What You Get for $299

The Meta Adventurer and Meta Fury carry identical hardware specifications to the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 that launched last year: a 12-megapixel camera capable of 3K video capture, a five-microphone array for noise-resistant voice activation, and a battery rated at eight hours of continuous use. The included charging case provides an additional 40 hours of capacity. The specs are essentially unchanged from the Ray-Ban generation — the differentiation is in the brand, the price, and the AI software.

The Adventurer takes a slimmer everyday silhouette that leans toward professional use. The Fury goes with a larger, more rectangular frame that skews athletic. A third option — Meta Glasses by Kylie, designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner — offers a slim oval style at $399. Meta describes a total of 26 styles across the lineup, spanning different frame shapes, colors, and lens options including prescription.

What is genuinely new is the AI running on the device. Ray-Ban’s brand equity was essential for Meta’s first entry into the category. The $299 tier is the market that matters for adoption scale. At that price, the purchase decision is comparable to a pair of AirPods Pro rather than a consumer electronics investment requiring justification. If Meta can sell millions of units at $299 — and its 76% market share and existing Ray-Ban Meta install base suggest it can — the compounding effect on AI glasses as a platform will be significant: more users generate more data to improve Muse Spark, more users justify more developer investment in glasses-native applications, and more users create social normalization that reduces the friction for subsequent buyers.
